I went to bed and was dreaming of a dark house. My house. I was watching tv with Nolan (my brother) and my dad and we finished the movie. There was no one else in the house for some reason, and it was late at night. I think the movie was happy, maybe “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” or “Secret Magic Control Agency”. As the credits started rolling, the ending theme song played. But then it began to disorient and cut out. The screen goes static, and all the lights but one goes out. Then some terrifying monster, (Like the one from stranger things), jumps through the back door, shattering the glass everywhere. Cut to another scene, I am hiding in the bathroom, praying that it doesn’t find me. It goes upstairs. I have to get to my room, I thought…for some reason. I sneak out of the bathroom, through the living room, across the stairs, but then it sees me. In horror, I ran into the basement. My room is so close. Heart pounding, I fly down the basement stairs, but for some reason, don’t go into my room. I hear the monster slowly creaking down the stairs after me. As fear grips me, I seem to melt into the dark corner of the basement. It stalks past, and I feel it. The soul-ripping feeling of terror. I close my eyes as life flashes before me. I see everyone I have ever loved. Siblings, friends, family. My entire life; Every single birthday party, day of school. Every crush, every boyfriend, every moment. Gone. I open my eyes, and I’m in my room. It is the same old room I’ve always had, but something’s off. The eerie tone of the room scares me as I feel an evil, hiding in the walls. The monster is here. I can feel it. I am under the covers of my bed, covered up with fluffy blankets and warm pillows, and yet am still terrified. In real life, when I woke up, I was in the same position as the girl in my dream. And I was terrified.
This dream seems to depict a sense of vulnerability and fear, possibly related to a situation in your waking life where you feel threatened or insecure. The darkness and empty house symbolize a feeling of isolation or being alone in a situation where you should feel safe. Watching the movie with your dad and brother may suggest feelings of comfort and support, but these are quickly shattered when the monster appears. The monster represents the fear or threat that you are facing, and your attempt to escape it shows your desire to overcome this challenge. The glimpse of your life flashing before your eyes could indicate your fear of losing the things and people that matter to you if you can't overcome the threat. The fear that you continue to feel in your own room may suggest a feeling of lingering unease even in safe and familiar spaces. Overall, the dream may be telling you that you need to face your fears and seek help from your loved ones to overcome them.
